BioTE pellets are tiny, customized pellets made from bioidentical hormones that are inserted just beneath the skin during a quick in-office procedure. Once in place, they gradually release hormones throughout the day, helping maintain more consistent hormone levels compared with treatments that require daily or weekly dosing.
For most women, BioTE hormone pellets typically last about 3–5 months, although each person's treatment schedule may vary based on metabolism, hormone levels, and individual needs.
What to Expect During Your Pellet Procedure
Women's Hormone Therapy
Your appointment generally takes 20–30 minutes.
During the procedure:
- Your provider will numb a small area near the upper buttock using a local anesthetic.
- A tiny incision is made to insert the customized BioTE pellets beneath the skin.
- The incision is covered with a small adhesive strip or dressing—stitches are usually not required.
- Most patients return to normal daily activities the same day, with temporary restrictions on strenuous lower-body exercise for several days while the area heals.
